DOT Physical Requirements: What You Need to Pass

You must be able to:
- Hear a forced whisper from 5 feet away, OR
- Have an average hearing loss of no more than 40 dB in your better ear
Use hearing aids? Wear them to your exam.
Blood Pressure Standards
Your certification period depends on your blood pressure:
- Below 140/90: 2-year certification
- 140-159 / 90-99: 1-year certification
- 160-179 / 100-109: 3-month temporary certification (must bring BP down)
- 180/110 or higher: Must be treated before you can be certified
Have high blood pressure? Make sure it’s controlled before your exam. Bring documentation from your doctor if you’re on BP medication.

What makes a chiropractor qualified to do DOT physicals?
FMCSA-certified chiropractors receive specialized training in DOT medical standards and physical examinations.
Our chiropractor is certified by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, just like MDs, DOs, NPs, and PAs who perform DOT physicals.
The difference? We understand the physical demands on truck drivers and take a holistic approach to your health.
Why is your price so much lower than CVS or other clinics?
We’re locally owned and operated. We don’t have the overhead of corporate chains.
We keep our prices low because we want to serve working truck drivers fairly.
Same certification. Same standards. Better price.
Can I get my DOT physical on a Saturday or Sunday?
Not currently. We’re closed weekends.
Tallahassee hours: Mon-Thu (Fri by appointment only)
